Book Awards Winners
The 2024 New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards is pleased to announce the winners in this year’s awards program.
This is the 18th year of the awards program, which has a mission of uncovering and honoring the best in Arizona and New Mexico books. There are 56 winners in 47 categories this year (there are 7 ties due to virtually same average scores.
Almost 1,000 books were received in this year’s program, down 4% from 2023. Entries were in 47 categories or genre. 25.8% of entries were in fiction categories; 10% in history; 8% in biography or autobiography, and 12% in poetry.
Every book was judged by at least three judges, made up of booksellers, librarians, teachers, book marketing experts, as well as avid book readers. There were 91 judges in this year’s program, from all across the U.S., which is an increase of about 6% from last year.
