New Mexico Book Co-op Projects
The Book Co-op has organized several activities to help promote local books. The first project was the New Mexico Books & More store. The co-op now regularly holds informal monthly meetings where specific book topics are discussed; these usually take place at lunch on the last Friday of each month. The New Mexico Books & More holiday store that sold over 5,500 local books in 2004 and 2005; the 2005 New Mexico Book Fiesta, which featured over 215 publisher/author exhibitors; the Chama Book Fair in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008; the Book Fair at St. Johns Cathedral in Albuquerque; and a series of seminars on book marketing and copyright. We also were a sponsor of the New Mexico State Library Literary Passion Lecture Series, which featured local authors and publishers. The Co-op organized the Halloween Holiday Book Howl in Los Ranchos and worked with the Albuquerque Public Library on the Literacy Day Fair.
