How To Get A Book Noticed in the Local Media

This information was provided by Steve Robert Allen, Editor and Book Reviewer, Alibi, at the Book Marketing Seiminar on October 29 in Albuquerque.

Write an exceptional book.

Take matters into your own hands.

Put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into creating a pristine promotional plan.
1) Figure out what makes the book a must-read.
2) Tailor your pitch to each media outlet.
3. Create a useful promotional package.
4) Send out review copies.

Don't be afraid to pick up the phone.

Be Professional.

Timing is everything.

Realize that the volume of books being produced every year combined with the limited resources devoted to books in the media make it extremely difficult to get a book reviewed.
